한국문화의 국제적 현상화
- KSSNJ 학생포럼 개최로 뿌리 연구 및 홍보에 박차
남부뉴저지통합한국학교(이하 “학교”, 교장 김정숙)는 재외동포청의 후원으로 지난 12월 17일 오후 3시부터 마운트로렐 소재 힐튼가든인에서 제 5회 학생포럼을 개최했다. 이번 포럼은 학교 졸업생이자 Widener University 임상 심리학 박사과정에 있는 전해림 교사가 “ 한국문화의 국제적 현상화”라는 주제로 11명의 고교생과 한 학기 동안 열 번의 연구모임을 가진 후 결과물을 발표했다. 9월부터 시작한 학교 합창단의 축하공연으로 행사를 시작했다.
참가자들은 한국 가치, 한국 건축, 한국 음식, 한국의 미, 한국 팝문화의 다섯 그룹으로 나누어 연구결과를 공유했다. 발표 중간에 청중에게 질문을 하고 상을 주는 소통의 시간이 마련되었고, 청중은 활발하게 참여하면서 분위기를 돋우었다. 김정숙 교장은 "해가 거듭될수록 연구의 범위가 다양하고 깊어지고 있다. 학생포럼의 정착으로 우리 차세대가 뿌리를 연구하면서 한인으로서의 정체성과 자부심을 더해가기를 기대한다"고 밝혔다.
The Modernization of Korean Culture into a Global Phenomenon
- Boosting Root Research and Promotion through the KSSNJ Student Forum
Korean School of Southern New Jersey (hereinafter "KSSNJ," Principal Chung Kim) hosted the 5th Student Forum at Hilton Garden Inn in Mount Laurel on the afternoon of December 17th, sponsored by the Overseas Koreans Agency. The forum featured presentations from Julie Chun, a graduate of KSSNJ and currently a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Widener University, who conducted ten research sessions with 11 high school students over the course of a semester, focusing on the theme of "The Modernization of Korean Culture into a Global Phenomenon" The event began with a congratulatory performance by the KSSNJ K-Choir, which started in September.
Participants shared research findings divided into five groups: Korean Values, Korean Architecture, Korean Food, Korean Beauty, and Korean Pop Culture. During the presentations, there was a time for questions and interactive communication with the audience, who actively participated and enhanced the overall atmosphere. Principal Chung Kim expressed her hope, saying, "As the years go by, the scope and depth of research are expanding. With the establishment of the Student Forum, we anticipate that our next generation will delve into their roots, contributing to a deeper understanding of their identity and pride as Korean Americans."
