Brief School History
With the right thoughts, the right words, and the right actions, the Korean School of Southern New Jersey (KSSNJ) focuses on educating future generations with Korean heritage. Hoping to pass on the Korean language and Korean culture to children, 35 humble founding members established the Korean School of Cherry Hill in 1979. In 2009, the school integrated small Korean schools in the region to establish the Korean School of Southern New Jersey. Registered as a nonprofit organization in the federal government and the state of New Jersey, KSSNJ dedicates to publicizing Korean culture through continuous exchange activities with local communities. KSSNJ, to this day, continues to carry out its mission statement through enriching language and culture classes and public performances.
Korean School of Southern New Jersey (KSSNJ) educates younger students from Pre-K to 12th grade about various aspects of Korean language and culture. Teachers and interns work collaboratively to expand students' knowledge of Korea through performance classes, focusing on Korean traditional dances (Fan dance and Sword dance) and drums (Samulnori ). Students go on to perform for different communities in the Tri-state area, sharing their Korean culture and pride. From understanding history to becoming more aware of the Korean society today, KSSNJ cultivates a curriculum that fosters a sense of belonging in their roots as a Korean-American. Additionally, KSSNJ prepares students for speech, drawing, singing, and writing competitions in order to highlight their talents as individuals. Outside of the classroom, the school provides extracurricular clubs that creates a cohesive environment for all students. These clubs include the Mentor-Mentee club, where older students assist younger students on homework, and the Korean Adoptive Families Korean Culture Class, in which adopted Koreans are able to connect and build friendships with peers of similar backgrounds. At KSSNJ, the students and teachers come together to create a close-knit and supportive community in order to lay a firm foundation for future generations.

2022 제20회 세계한국국악경연대회에서 모듬북으로 대상, 태평무로 최우수상, 한국무용부문 지도자특별상 수상. 국민교육 발전 유공 대통령상 수상 김정숙 교장. 제2회 청소년 음악축제에서 총영사상, 대상, 금상 수상. 제2회 낙스 한국어능력테스트 말하기 부분 만점. 나의꿈 말하기 대회 뉴욕총영사상, 대상, 동상 수상. 대한민국 바로 알리기 기자단 선정.
2021 제4회 충무공 이순신 작품공모전 – 판옥상, 명량상, 한산상 수상
2020 이순신 독후감 대회 명량상, 한산상 수상. 통일골든벨 대상 및 금상 수상, K-DOCDO UCC 공모전 최우수상 수상, 미주지역 청소년 통일 골든벨 결선-2등 수상, 미주평통 자문위원회 필라델피아 협의회 주최 통일 노래개사 경연대회에서 통일상 수상. 한글날 행사 한글날 타자대회에서 대상, 금상, 은상 장려상등 다수 수상.
